Many have you heard of the phrase, "Tip of the iceberg". I would like to think of this online journal as the tip of the iceberg and the extra that appears every so often.

Through this online journal I hope to share and explore with you my day-to-day (or update to update) events and activities as a person who has chosen Acting as an obsession.

I will detail the highs and lows of what I've chosen as a career. It's not the destination, but the journey. Welcome one and all.

B is for Banana

B is also for Busy, and Blogging which I have been lately--Busy that is, and not blogging...which I haven't.  Oh nevermind!  Well, I haven't been that busy but busy enough to keep me from writing out a nice juicy blog update so I'll have to come back soon to update you all!  So sorry!  But if it's any consolation, I met up with a casting director today!  More on that, later!

Valentine's Day is coming up though and have you all been able to ensnare that special someone with a little help of Cupid's arrow?  Awooooo!

What have I learned though?  A laptop would be a wise investment someday!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

This isn't much of an update really, just an audition (Hawaii) notice I decided to put up in case there were some curious readers!  I'll be sure to update soon though!  The past couple of weeks have been rather busy, and during the times when I do get to sit down, it's usually for the Porcelain god.

Well that's it for this blog update.  I know it's not very interesting but it's not like you're paying me to update!  NEENER NEENER!  I kid, I kid!  How about I post up a silly poster I found online?  Yes?  GOOD!  Enjoy.

So what have I learned the past few weeks with school, work and rehearsals looming overhead?  Always try to keep your schedule / planner updated at least two months in advance!  It will save you the asprin usage.

Alive and Acting

I'm finally back at the keyboard!  For a couple of weeks my computer time was reduced to quick email checking and myspace browsing.  Everytime I launched my xTools to start a blog I kept getting distracted!  I've finally found some time on the side to sneak a few paragraphs in for you all!

Last few updates I wrote up included some auditions that I attended.  Well here are the updates!

  • "Crossroads", an anti-tobacco play that will be touring middle schools around Hawaii
  • "Haunted Hawaii" (not sure if that's the final title) - Hawaii based horror t.v. pilot
  • "Death so Delicious", Murder Mystery Dinner Theater - Dave & Buster
Those were the auditions I attended that particular week.  I had plenty of fun at the auditions.  Each one was different!  The Crossroads audition consisted of cold reading from the script in front of 10-15 people, 10 or so being part of the cast & crew, the others were other actors reading for the same role.

The Hawaii based horror t.v. pilot was an interesting one.  It was in front of 6 men, one woman, and a camera.  The room was rather colorful!  The part I read for was supposed to be in the 12-15 age range but I'm much older!  So instead of reading it and pretending I was that age, I read the character as a slightly 'slow' individual.  I feel I gave a great audition!

Michael Ng was present at that audition assisting the director with the casting.  For people who don't know (or that live in Hawaii and don't know), Mike plays that one roadrunner technician who is on a date and is asked to come over just to fix his date's computer!  Great guy.  Oh and in case you were interested, Scott Lee Mason is the t.v. pilot's director.

Finally the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater audition, it was different!  The audition took place in front of the other actors and on stage and we were called up for different roles to read and rotate.  That audition was definitely an experience I would not want to have missed.  Unfortunately I didn't get the role I read for which was an oriental chef who get's poisoned by someone else in the cast...who could it be?  You'll have to watch it!

Okay quick break --- Sorry for all the text folks.  I'll work on getting more pictures up for your eyes to go all googly over but until then I've only got links and jibber-jabber for you!  But if it makes you all feel better, I love you all for getting this far in the blog!

Alright, back to the subject.  I landed a part in one of those auditions...which one?  I landed the role of Brent in Crossroads.  It is written and directed by a very talented person named Eletei Tatafu Jr. whom I respect as a person, an actor, and director.  At any rate, after a few rehearsals, the phrase, "there's always room for improvement", is ringing clearly!

My first actual show starts sometime late Janurary.  I'll keep you all informed and I'll snag some pictures!  Haha, yes yes I know...I must post pictures, PICTURES!  Soon my loverlies, soon!

I consider this my quick update, next update I'll try to get into detail about the time I'm spending on Crossroads and my feelings towards my character, Brent.  Until next time, stay safe and stay classy!

What have I learned after all those auditions, rehearsals and plenty of driving?  Sometimes 24hrs is just not enough time!
